Montessori Middle School (7th & 8th Grade)

Setting the Stage for a Triumphal Entry into Society

Choosing the right middle school is an important step in your child’s learning journey. We know that the middle school years are a time of great change. Children begin questioning purpose and meaning and adjust to entering a new stage of life. Our Montessori Middle School program provides our students with a caring and structured place for them to develop as individuals. With our guidance, students are prepared to take on both academic and personal challenges with strength and resilience.

Why LePort for Middle School

Our Middle School program is designed to build on the foundation laid in Montessori elementary while guiding our students toward more advanced learning. Explore why Middle School at LePort is an ideal place for your child to continue their education.

A Place for Growth and Development: The early teen years are a time of great change. Children start asking questions about the world and becoming more independent. At the same time, they go through strong emotions and physical changes that can feel overwhelming. Our Middle School program gives our students a supportive place to help them through these changes. We guide them as they grow, helping them with their schoolwork and learning how to handle these changes and make positive life choices.

High Standards in a Caring Space: We hold every student to high academic and behavioral standards while also providing a warm, respectful atmosphere. Each student is an individual, and we help them grow in their own way. We challenge them to keep learning and become their best selves. Our goal is to help students grow into confident, strong young people who can handle the changes of growing up with confidence.

Mentoring from Adult Role Models: In middle school, our students begin to seek guidance from adults who can help them as they grow. Our teachers do more than just teach—they act as mentors and role models, offering wisdom and support. They respect each student’s growing independence while helping them make good decisions. We encourage our students to build strong relationships with their teachers, who are there to inspire, guide, and help them feel confident as they navigate this important stage of life.

Goal Setting and Accountability: At the start of each year, students, parents, and teachers meet to set goals. Students choose both academic and personal goals they want to achieve. Throughout the year, we check in to see how they are doing and make sure they stay on track. Whether it’s improving school work, building friendships, or exploring hobbies, we help students reach their goals step by step. This support helps them succeed and feel proud of their progress.

Learning Beyond the Classroom: In addition to classroom learning, middle school students go on enriching field trips. These trips give our students a chance to explore, try new things, and become more independent. They take two overnight trips during the year. One trip is a weeklong visit to Washington D.C., where students explore important historical places. The other trip is all about the outdoors and may include camping or nature adventures. These experiences help our students learn about the world around them and grow in confidence.

Counseling in Preparation for High School and Beyond: We do not just get our students ready for high school—we help them get ready for life. They learn academic skills and build confidence in themselves. This helps them do well in any high school setting, whether it is a private school, a magnet program, or a public school. Starting in 7th grade, our school counselors work with students and their families to find the right high school and guide them through the application process. We stay with them every step of the way to make sure they are ready for what comes next.

Our Curriculum

Our students continue to develop their strong writing skills. They work on a variety of projects, including writing stories, reports, and essays. We help them through every step—from thinking of ideas, writing drafts, to editing, and finding opportunities to improve. With help from their teachers, they grow more confident and proud of their writing.
