In Our Student’s Own Words: Yearbook 2010
One of the most pleasant aspects of my job at LePort Mission Viejo is leading our Yearbook Team. It is wonderful to see what our 8th graders can accomplish, and to see a full year of excitement put into a beautiful end product.
This past year, I especially enjoyed the profiles of our graduation students. Their essays show what great young people they have become, how far they have journeyed—and it’s a testament to the fact that we’ve actually made a real difference in their lives. As they now approach their first day of high school, a new adventure, I can’t help but share their answers to the question of what they got out of being at LePort:
“If you come to LePort, I’ll give you my word that you’ll be accepted for who you are and you will not have to act like someone different. I believe that I would not be able to have as great of a life as I have now without LePort. I struggled and found my answer, and my life has been forever changed because of it.”
“At LePort Schools, I have learned that you can never have too much knowledge. To gain a lot of knowledge, you have to overcome challenges and those challenges would’ve been impossible to overcome if I hadn’t gone to LePort for the last two years. LePort has taught me a valuable lesson. This lesson is that it’s ok to make mistakes because no one’s perfect. LePort has had a gigantic impact on me. I am now a way nicer person than I ever was. I now have more confidence in myself and I am no longer shy! My experience here has been too good to be true.”
“Before coming to LePort, I was not motivated to learn. I didn’t think I could achieve success. Since I have been going to LePort for the past five years, I have made many accomplishments and have changed significantly. As a result, I feel confident, happy with myself and what I have achieved. I also feel very successful. … Thanks to great teachers, hard work, and an amazing school I now fall asleep each night knowing that I have done the best I could.”
This last one is from my daughter. And I can only second what she says: being able to have her here at LePort, and see her develop has been one of the greatest pleasures of my life!
